As we know that not even two months have passed since the release, there is no official confirmation about the sequel. The middle credits scene where another creature from the world of Sonic, whom we know from the video game series, came looking for Sonic on Earth, hinting himself for the sequel.
Actor James Marsden, who plays Tom in the film, spoke to Variety, saying that he had signed on for a ‘multiple ‘sequels. This, too, can be good news for fans.
What to expect in Sonic the Hedgehog 2?
The makers have certainly carved a niche for themselves by expecting a great sequel. As seen in the first film, Dr. Robotnik [Jim Carrey], who is now thrown to another planet, is taking revenge on Sonic to refuel his vengeful mind, the sequel to a compelling story. It can be saved section. It is also possible that Robotnik will return in a few more sequels, but the next one will tail over the main run, which has arrived on Earth in search of the sound.
Albeit, nothing has been confirmed yet. We can hope for the best as the predecessor has set the bar very high up.

Sonic, a supernatural elephant, arrives on Earth through a portal and carefully resides for ten years in Green Hills, Montana, to escape his planet. As a stray roboticist, Dr. Robotnik finds out about Sonic’s presence; He finds the ability to fuel his robots in Sonic and becomes passionate to capture them. While Tom, the local headman, finds Sonic first, he decides to help Sonic and temporarily escape the Robotnik vicious plans.
Eventually, Tom and Sonic return to San Francisco, where the Wachowskis have recently moved and where the sound portal rings accidentally arrived. After several exciting events, Sonic defeats Robotnik, who then ends up on another planet. The Wachowskis and Sonic now live back together in Montana. While Robotnik plans revenge on Earth, a twin-tailed fox from Sonic World emerges from a ring portal in search of Sonic on Earth.
The film caught the eyes of critiques in terms of performances and production, but the plot wasn’t much appreciated. By grossing a massive amount of $306 million worldwide, it became The highest-grossing film of 2020.
The film is undoubtedly worth a watch, and now the sequel is also much anticipated. If things go well, we might get news about it soon!
