Wonder Woman 1984: Gal Gadot wonders how passionate she is about seeing the woman open up about 1949.
The actress, who stars as the eponymous DC superhero, sat down with At Rachel Smith at the 2019 Comedy Congress Experience on Sunday in Sao Paulo, Brazil — alongside the film’s director, Patty Jenkins — where they set about creating a powerful new project Talked.
“In the first film, we got to tell the journey of raising Wonder Woman and becoming Diana Prince Wonder Woman,” Gadot shared. “In this story, we met him in 1979. He has been around; he is helping humanity, you know, doing what he needs to do, call him.
“He’s lost some of his teammates over the years, and [now] something crazy is going to happen to him,” Gadot teased.
The actress has previously admitted that when she first saw an early screener of the film, it brought her to tears — a result she said she was surprised by.
“I’m not an easy crier. To save my pride,” she reported. “I am not the type of woman who watches commercials and cries … [but] I had such a strong reaction to this film. And it caught me off guard.”
“I can’t tell you what happened in the film that made me cry; I can tell you that it was the very beginning. But I’ve never seen that. Suddenly I’m a girl or wonder woman, [or] actress, [or] The producer who was on the set was not when everything was shot. I was watching a little girl from a suburb in Israel, all by herself, in the scene … and I see this amazing woman doing these fantastic things, And I do not like that. “
She said she began to cry “all of a sudden” without even realizing it because of how impressive a particular scene proved to be.
“This moment you’re like, ‘That’s why it’s such an important temper, that’s why it’s not like any other film,'” Gadot shared. “We’re doing something that we hope That is going to affect, [and] it is already very influential on us.
As for Jenkins, she is stirring deep emotions is one of her goals when she gets behind the camera, telling a whole, complete, and compelling, engaging story.
Jenkins said, ‘Every time I make a film, I am trying to do work. “You will never get there, you will never feel that you did, but that is always what you are trying to do.
“So, as amazing as the success of the first film was, it’s its film, and I love this character, and I love this person that I’m working with,” she said. “I am aiming for this film to be better in every way, and I feel like we have something that we felt was grand and magnificent and something you want to see in the theater, and we have something that I think is super exciting. Have a wish.
Jenkins and Gadot were in this year’s Comedy Congress experience to debut the first trailer for the hotly anticipated action film, and the filmmaker said they couldn’t wait for fans to get a chance to check out what’s in store.
Jenkins said, ‘We love the trailer, we’re psyched. “So, we want people to see the whole thing.”
Wonder Woman 1984 flies to the theater on 5 June 2020.
