The trailer of Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey starrer Chhapak directed by Meghna Gulzar is released on December 10. The film revolves around the real-life story of Laxmi Agarwal, a survivor of acid attack.
Deepika has co-produced the film with Meghna. The trailer has traces of the incident of the attack and the subsequent legal process.
But here are five things that Deepika Padukone said at the trailer launch in Mumbai, which saved the audience her favour.
When Deepika broke up after watching the trailer
The trailer was played twice in the theatre, after which Deepika Padukone was called to talk about the film. The actor got up on stage with a smile but broke down when asked to speak about Chhapak. “I knew I would be called on, but I wasn’t ready to talk about the trailer,” he said, adding that every time he sees the trailer, it breaks.
‘I didn’t feel any different on seeing myself with artificial’
When one of the audience members asked Deepika when he saw himself with the prosthetic and if he was ‘scared’, here’s what he said:
“It’s very ironic that I didn’t feel any different and that day I have found my character and that day I knew what to do in this film. I don’t think we should be defined or defined by our outward appearances Should. “- Deepika Padukone, Actress
‘I was done after the artificial burn and saw it burn until the end.’
At the trailer launch, Deepika Padukone talked about how she lived with her character ‘Malati’ for months.
“The characters that you never play leave you. You may have done with the film, but a part of the role stays within. I remember the last day when we were finally done with the shoot. I asked Meghna and got an extra piece of prosthetic. I went to the back of the trailer and burned that piece of prosthetic. Everyone started leaving, and I told them that I wanted to see it burnt. “-Deepika Padu Konka, actress Lakshmi is one of the unique people I have met.
Deepika Padukone’s character in Chappar is inspired by Lakshmi Aggarwal, a survivor of ‘Malati’ acid attack. Deepika further said that Lakshmi is the unique person she has met. “Lakshmi has this feeling about her, this attitude that is so unique. Deepika said, she always shares an anecdote, and I can sit and talk to her for hours.
‘Laxmi said that he thought he was looking at a mirror when he saw me.’
Deepika revealed that she was nervous about playing the character as she has never played a role where she is inspired by someone she can meet and talk with. “I could feel the pressure, and it was on the first day of the shoot when Lakshmi came on the sets, and I was quite nervous. But when she saw me, she said that she felt like he was looking at himself in the mirror. Deepika Said, I felt the most significant validation an actor could ever make.
Chhapak releases on January 10 with Tanhaji and Junji.
