Keanu Reeves appears everywhere these days. And fans are certainly not complaining. After breaking through in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the actor has returned to headlines in a big way. From his film roles to his personal life, Reeves made headlines several times in 2019.
He reprimanded his role as the nominal master assassin in John Baati: Chapter 3- Parabellum. Then, she voiced Canadian stuntman Toy Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4 and made a memorable appearance as herself in Netflix rom-com May Always Be Mine. But Reeves is just getting started.
Keanu Reeves juggle multiple film franchises
With the projects he stands next in line, Reeves could be set for an even greater career-high in the next couple of years. He made a surprise and hilarious cameo in May 2020 SpongeBob Movie: SpongeBob on the Run. Then, a few months later, the role that first made him famous: Ted “Theodore” would return to Logan.
After years of speculation, the Bill and Ted Face musical will arrive in the theatre on August 21, 2020. The film serves as the long-awaited third entry in the series following the bogus journey of Bill and Ted in 1991. Reeves reunites with co-star and old friend Alex Winter for the project, but this is the only sequel the actor is away from in the queue.
Recently Warner Bros. announced an upcoming fourth entry in the Matrix franchise for release on May 21, 2019. That very day another Reeves sequel, John Wick: Chapter 4, will hit the theatre. While one of those films would almost certainly change its release date earlier, the underlying message in “Keanu Reeves Day” is that the actor is open to his most famous roles bursts.
Latest development update on ‘Constantine 2’
To that end, rumours swirled about another project that could conceivably see Reeves back in a beloved role. Screenwriter Matteson Tomlin recently collaborated with director Matt Reeves on the upcoming reboot Batman. But a recent mention on Twitter about Tomlin “[buying] some comic books” fans are wondering what DC project he is working on next.
According to rumours, Tomlin may be working on a new John Constantine-focused film, played on screen in the DC Comics character Reeves 2005. The report indicates that it may be a reboot that provides a new spin on the source material. However, Warner Bros. still may want to repeat the Reeves character.
A comparison of the possibility of a Reeves returns to the casting of Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool after playing the character in Report X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Bringing Reeves back now makes a ton of sense, but considering we’ve heard rumours for a while that both DC and Marvel wanted to put him into new projects.
Does Keanu Reeves want to play John Constantine again?
If that is what Warner Bros. is hoping for, they may be in luck. Reeves has asked for the year he wants to play Constantine again, and this may be his chance to do it. Now that the actor is back on top, the role burst probably seems too good for studio executives.
That first film grossed $ 230,000,000 worldwide against a budget of $ 100,000,000. Nevertheless, fans have been stuck by Constantine over the years. NBC tried to mould Hellblazer comics on which the film was based for the short life live-action series. Although the character on that show page remained true to the blonde and British portrayal, it still only lasted one season.
Matt Ryan was able to perform his starring gig Parle on NBC in a role on Legends of Tomorrow. Still, her chances of headlining a feature film are slim to none. Given how busy Reeves’ schedule is, the actor likely has his pick of projects, but we’re willing to bet Warner Bros. if they choose to do so.
