With the new wireless charging technology, OnePlus 8 Pro will be able to charge up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. It is faster than most wireless charging speeds out there right now. OnePlus phones were quite a flagship when it came to power and speed processing. However, the lack of some features always set the devices apart from other significant frontrunners. One of these was wireless charging. A few months ago, it was revealed that the company would eventually include wireless charging in its phones, starting with OnePlus 8 Pro.
Now the company has just revealed that most and OnePlus 8 Pro will not only feature regular wireless charging but will also have 30W fast wireless charging. The new wireless charging element will be able to bring the phone to 50 percent battery life in just 30 minutes. This fast wired charge phone is the usual speed of the moment.

Operating at 30W at peak speed means that the OnePlus 8 Pro will overtake Samsung and Apple’s flagships. CEO Pete Lau mentioned in an interview that the “[charge speed] issue that we are not expecting with the wired charge” was the reason the feature never came before for an OnePlus phone. This can be pointed to a minimalist approach where people will usually go with the fastest charging method than is more convenient.
What about the heat?
Regardless, bumping up the wattage to 30W solves the problem of speed, but what about the generated heat? The OnePlus charger will likely address this by two methods. The first is a cooling fan on the OnePlus charger itself. This fan is also expected to create up to 30db of noise. It will include a night mode, however, where the fan wi8ll be off, and the charging speeds will be reduced.
The second method to keep the temperature down is by changing the Amps x Volt = Watt equation. The charger will supply voltage up to 20V with the remaining amps at 1.5A. However, inside the OnePlus 8 Pro phone, there will be units called a single charge pump, which will reduce the voltage back to the safe number before hitting the battery. According to Lau, this technique is also more efficient because less energy is wasted in the form of heat. Apart from this, if the temperature becomes too high, then the charger is also able to bring down its output.
OnePlus 8 Pro will launch with Vanilla OnePlus 8 at an event on April 14, 2020. The 8 Series phones will run on Snapdragon 865 chipset and will also have 5G support. The OnePlus 8 Pro will also have a refresh rate of 120Hz and reverse wireless charging.
