Adult content website Pornhub has seen a surge in traffic from India. The platform announced that it would offer premium content for free during the lockdown period. This step tends to pay dividends in terms of the number of users visiting the website. With more time on hand and premium content available for free, Indians are not getting enough for Pornhub. The popular adult entertainment venue the country has seen a huge increase in traffic since the beginning of the 21 day lockdown period.

On an average day, growth exceeded 55 percent on the first day of lockdown compared to site traffic from India. According to data released by Pornhub last week, the site posted a peak in traffic growth for the month at 95 percent on 27 March. In fact, traffic on the site started increasing significantly from 8 March. However, since Pornhub and other adult entertainment portals are restricted in India, users are taking different online routes such as virtual private networks (VPNs) to access such websites.
The huge increase in traffic has also contributed to the fact that Pornhub made its premium content free worldwide, encouraging people to stay home and level the coronavirus curve. “Stay home and help level the curve! Since COVID-19 continues to affect us all, Pornhub has decided to extend the free Pornhub premium worldwide by 23 April. The Adult Entertainment website said on 24 March, so Enjoy, stay home, and be safe.
However, it would be unfair to say that only Indians showed an increased interest in pornographic material during this critical time when the COVID-19 epidemic is spreading rapidly. Pornhub also saw a spike in traffic from other countries, including the US, Italy, and Spain – some countries most affected by the epidemic. Worldwide, more than 1,240,000 people have been infected with COVID-19, while more than 70,000 have already died.
