After some of the most excellent episodes and spectacular plot twists, Game of Thrones spoiled the ending. I’m still bitter about everything that went down in the final season, especially with the white walkers. I mean, they showed us that white walkers were a threat from the very first episode. And then it was all wrapped up in a single episode. And it was especially disappointing if you consider the fact that fans came up with better theories.
Also, they waited two whole years before releasing the final season to us. After all this, it was sub-par at best. Okay, yes, I’m still crazy about Finale. We deserved better. Nonetheless, I am excited about the spin series, House of the Dragon mostly because I know that showrunners can’t waste it because of their lack of content.
Anyway, let’s find out what we know so far about the upcoming series:
A spin-off series of the show has been in the books for long. The next series is to be based on the prequels written by George R. R. Martin-Fire and Blood. It will be set around 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones took place.
House of the Dragon Plot
If you are a GOT fan, you might have guessed by now that the show will be based on House Targaryen. I mean, the title of the book is their house motto.
The show will tell the story of Aon the Conqueror as he arrives at King’s Landing, riding on a dragon with his two sisters Visena and Raines, by his side.
We will also be getting original stories from other homes such as Baratheon, Tyrells, Starks and Lannisters on screen.
All in all, the show will revolve around battles, politics, betrayals, just like the original show. And, hence, it is likely to garner just as many fans as GOT.
Episodes and Release Date
HBO announced the first season of 10 episodes in October 2019. The showrunners, however, mentioned that they are in no hurry to air it.
HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys said in an interview- “My guess is some time in 2022,” when asked about the release date.
