Knife out writer/director Rian Johnson recently revealed Alex Trebek enjoyed his film and was overjoyed. Johnson’s Knife came out November of last year and starred Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, and Ana De Armas in three lead roles, but as a star-studded ensemble cast leads a return to the clue-style whodunnit murder mystery formula. Most people probably know Johnson’s work from Star Wars: The Last Jedi and will probably get a turn towards Looper and a classic murder mystery surprise, but he made his debut with writing feature films and directing the noir cult hit Brick found it.
All this is to say that Johnson now has a lot of experience with complex plots with a lot of moving parts, and this Knife out which is done quite well commercially and critically, with professional film critics and audiences Paid off infamous alike. It did so well, and Johnson enjoyed making it so much, that a sequel is already in the works.
During the danger! ‘S new danger! Alex Trebek, the tournament’s biggest, longtime host of all time, recently noted that he had just come from watching Knife and found it “very good,” as Ken Jennings, one of the show’s most popular and successful contestants One told. Rian Johnson attended the tweet and reacted with “Oh my God,” making sure to follow the specific question as the rules of the danger follow the rules. He then went on to say that the current tournament is “the biggest TV event of all time.”
Many were worried earlier that this danger! The biggest of the all-time tournament was happening as Alex Trebek was going to retire. Last year Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy. Still, he remained a part of the show and said he has no plans to retire, although he has already released the show’s finale episode Have rehearsal. He has been hosting the show since 1949 and has become something of an institution, known for his dry wit and friendly personality.
Alex appreciates the Knife upon seeing Trebek, and Ryan Johnson’s excited response is heartening. Trebek is the mainstay of broadcast television and the second director is a rising star in the world. This makes a lot of sense that Trebek knives, in particular, can be like the outside, however, since the style name of “whodunnit” fits the rules of danger! As well as Johnson’s response, and it’s always nice to see two talented individuals appreciate each other’s work.
