Love Island narrator Ayan Sterling has spoken out on girlfriend Laura Whitmore joining the team as the new host. Laura was announced to replace Caroline Flack as a presenter last month, the week before the series began in South Africa.
Caroline confirmed she had stepped down from the latest series following a recent assault charge in December. She was arrested at her London home on Thursday, December 12, accused of assaulting her lover Lewis — while the host pleaded not guilty in court, with Lewis also standing by her.
Now, her co-star Iain has shared her thoughts on her replacement Laura, revealing it would allow her to spend more time together. Andrea McLean asked the guest about the change, commenting on the fact that Caroline would not be on the show.
Iain did not mention the former host but nodded confirming Hila before praising his partner.
He said: “He’s great, isn’t he. I think he’s great.”
Iain said: “Yes, I love him,” before joking: “And there are mortgage commitments that need to be considered …
Asked whether he and his girlfriend would be able to see more of each other while on the show, given they are both involved, Iain explained that would be the case.
He said: “More because he keeps coming back and forth to South Africa now and then.
“I’m there the whole time. They take me to a hot country and put me in a box!”
With Laura on the board ahead of the series, she said: “Yes, I’m really looking forward to it.” The show will launch on ITV2 at 9 pm on January 12, and will be the first series without Caroline.
It is thought that the winter edition will be on screen for weeks less than the summer version.
