Distinguish Between Real And Synthetic Hair Wigs: If there is one thing that is known about hairstyle and fashion, it is that wigs play a significant role in all of this.
Available in a variety of different styles and colours, they have become an essential fashion accessory today. Given the wide selection that can be found on the shelves today, it is no wonder why they have become such a big hit among people from all walks of life.
When it comes to wigs, there is a great deal of attraction about them, especially about how they are made. One of the things that many questions are the nature of the content.
There are many different wig materials today that are used in their manufacture and design. But at the same time, finding the nature of the material used for at least a common man can be challenging. This is where things can be difficult, as it can be rather tricky on time to know about this detail.
As difficult as it may seem to figure out the nature of the material, it is not as difficult as it may seem.
On the contrary, there are many different ways in which there can be differences between real hair wigs and those which are made from synthetic materials.
Distinguish Between Real and Synthetic Hair Wigs
Check Package Labelling: Synthetic Hair
This is one of the most effective ways in which the nature of the material can be detected so far.
Behind the packaging, one can usually find a great deal of information about the product. These include details like company name, date of manufacture, contact details, price, production batch number, etc.
Between all this, there is usually a small product, which is included among other details, the length of hair, hair colour, the material used, etc., the dedicated section will be for the packaging of the product By checking this part, one will be able to know the nature of the used material.
Hairstyle Feeling
While technology has made immense progress in the field of wigs, there are still very realistic human hair can be obtained in the making.
This can be seen by feeling the texture of the wig because it is one of the sure ways to find out whether the hair is real or not. In the case of real hair, it will feel like too much hair, displaying symptoms like silk, shine, beauty, tenderness, etc. While these symptoms can also be found in synthetic hair, it is a little less clear, a thick feeling in favour.
All that one has to do is to run the fingers of one’s hair through bushes, and this is the point. It will be evident as to whether the hair is real or not.
Note that some of the more recent advances are capable of producing ‘realistic’ hair, which is doing it rather tricky and makes it less accurate than before.
See Hair Texture: Synthetic Hair
It’s the same as the last point that instead of feeling the hair texture, you look at it.
By looking at the texture of hair at a close distance, it is usually clear that hair varieties are either real or synthetic.
As already mentioned, some hairstyles are showing signs of real brightness, silk, greasy, etc., while artificial ones become a bit thicker and thicker.
This, however, can be tricky with those that have been manufactured using the latest technology, seeing many advances that have taken place in the last few years.
Compare Cost Factor
This is by far the best way to know that the wig you are buying is made of synthetic or real hair.
If it were made out of synthetic hair, the wig would be less costly compared to those that are made of real hair. The reason is due to the availability of raw materials.
In the case of synthetic wigs, the raw material is available in relative abundance, but rather for low prices. However, this is not the case when it comes to human hair because the demand for it goes out of supply. In other words, human hair is rare compared to the need for it. As a result, the wigs made out of it cost relatively high.
It should also be added here that there is a chance that the cost can be artificially enhanced so that you think that it is real human hair. In other words, the value of the wig can be artificially raised by the seller, claiming that it is real hair when, in fact, it was made out of synthetic material.
Inspect the Age of the Wig
If the wig lives for a long time, it is likely made of real human hair. Given the chemical and structural nature of human hair, it lasts for a long time, when favourable conditions are available.
This is not the case when it comes to synthetics, which begin to deteriorate soon after a few months of use.
Check the Ease of Styling: Synthetic Hair
This is another excellent way to know if the wig has been made using real or synthetic hair.
Wigs that are made from real hair tends to be more accessible to style, whether it is in terms of applying hair dye, straitening, curling, using steam, etc.
While all of this certainly applies in the case of artificial materials as well, the result is usually less appealing in comparison to what can be observed in wigs made from real hair.
Also to note here is that there is a possibility that too much styling can damage synthetics, even on the first attempt. Should something like that happen to the wig, it becomes clear that the material used is synthetic hair, rather than the real thing.
Apply the Burn Test
This is an excellent way to know the nature of the hair.
Cut a few strands of hair from the wig and expose it to a flame. If it catches fire immediately, curls up and emits the classic burning smell of hair, it is human hair indeed. But in case the light causes the hair to melt, smells like rubber or starts to emit black smoke, the material is a synthetic one.
Apply the Bleach Test
This is another excellent test that you can use to know the nature of the hair.
Cut a few strands of hair from the wig and dip it in bleach. If it were made out of real hair, it would change its colour to a pale white. But if it were to be made from a synthetic material, it will very likely start to burn.
Do note that there are indeed many more differences that exist between the different types of wigs.
At the same time, however, the ones that have been mentioned above are some of the most important, and most comfortable to apply for everyone.
