Everyone thought that the Skywalkers and Solos family had issues. Rey’s shock revelation puts everything else in the shadows. Episode 9 finally put the whole question of her paternity to rest. Of course, it did with some rather clunky retconning of the previous Jedi. The moment when Kylo Ren declares that her parents had sold her, but only to protect and hide her together is eye roll and relief that provokes Rey’s almost incredible powers for a fitting epic descent at last there.

So, it turns out Rey’s father Palpatine was the separated son.

He was desperate to keep his daughter away from his grandfather (if he even knew he was alive) or anyone who still followed his father or, in fact, hated him — because they hardly Palpatine Please look at someone with the name.

So, who in the galaxy slept with the terrible Emperor?

In legends, he was born with three eyes and soon manifested impressive powers. The exiled Palpatine child, called Triclops, as a slave to Kessel, where he lived an unhappy life until he was discovered and saved by Luke, after the fall of the Emperor.

Rey’s father, shown in the rise of Skywalker flashbacks, looks hopelessly regular. A three-eyed papa may be too much for the audience to digest on the heels of the significant Palpatine revelation.

However, the idea that Sly is her grandmother remains forced. Two extremely forceful grandparents could begin to explain how Ray is so preternaturally powerful and skilled.
