Based on an article written by New York magazine Jessica Presser that gained fame, ‘Hustlers’ starring Jennifer Lopez, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay are set to hit theaters on September 12, 2019.
Hustlers have a real story concern, drawing inspiration from the Presser article, about a handful of strippers who reacted to the 2008 economic collapse.
In the film’s opening scene, it’s 2007, and the protagonist, Destiny, played by Constance Wu, discovered that the life of a stripper is not as rosy as he thought it would be. He knows that the competition is fierce, and as long as the men he works for have taken their share, the money is barely enough.
Moving on to the next pivotal character, Romana, played by Jennifer Lopez. Romana is well in control of her finances and with luck starts working with her in the champagne room together, earning more than before.
Then, in a turn of events, fate becomes pregnant, and at the same time, the recession hits the country. Eventually, Ramona and the gang engage in illegal activities such as theft and fishing.
To bring in people from outside to fish, fool them into thinking you are interested before drugging them and finally stealing their account details.
Through the writer-director, Lorene Scafaria, whose Susan Sarandon vehicle, welcomed Meddler and was a hot surprise in Toronto in 2015, a world traditionally seen through male eyes, now with a canny from a strikingly different version Seen sharp female lens.
The film raises thought-provoking moral questions like- Was it acceptable for women to steal this money because it was stolen in the first place? What is the probability that these men did not do these women? Does society force them to do something they were only taking from elsewhere?
All in all, maintaining a sense of centralized drama around sexuality and its related aspects, Hustlers is definitely a film to watch out for!
