Our beloved, Robert Downey Jr. has played the character of the superhero, Tony Stark aka Iron Man, in the 2008 Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
Although the 2019 release, Avengers: Endgame has received much-needed acclaim and recognition, the film’s directors, the Russo Brothers feel that Downey Jr. deserves an Oscar for his incredible performance that has touched the hearts of audiences across the world.
In a candid conversation, he was quoted at the film festival in Venice, saying by Russo sites that they do not make films for the award, but he is in strong support of Downey Jr.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a global audience in film history react to performance the way Robert Downey did in that film. People were bowling in the movie theater, hyperventilating. I mean, That’s an abysmal performance, to the degree that you can touch audiences worldwide. We’ve never seen anything like it, and if it doesn’t deserve an Oscar, I don’t know what The literacy.
The 22nd film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ‘Endgame,’ is currently the highest-grossing film worldwide, with a run time of about 180 minutes.
The production of Extreme, the final film of Phase 3 of the Marvel Universe, has done more than justice. Avengers: Endgame, Tony Stark (Iron Man) ends with the Mad Titan, Thanos, ending his Black Order and the threat of his army of Outriders, by snapping his fingers. As an exchange, Iron Man also damages and destructs himself.
The actor already holds two Oscar nominations – Best Actor in a Leading Role for Chaplin (1992) and Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Tropic Thunder (2008).
Other upcoming projects by the actor include ‘Doctor Dolittle’s Journey’ based on the children’s book series. Reportedly, the film also stars singer Selena Gomez and actor Tom Holland.
